Service Based Business Marketing

Calling all Online Service Based Business Owners

(Coaches, Virtual Assistants, Web Designers, Course Creators)

As service-based businesses grow in popularity, more and more entrepreneurs are looking for ways to effectively market their services.

There are many traditional marketing strategies like joining groups, placing ads in local papers, cold calling, mailers, etc., but there is also online marketing that will account for the majority of leads you get.

In this article, we will discuss the top service based business marketing platforms and why they are essential to your business’s success.

Online marketing for Service-Based Businesses

Create a Website

This is where it all begins…YOUR website. I want you to think of your website as you would a brick-and-mortar store. We know the cost of having a physical, local business takes a lot more money to open than an online store. So, if you’re like most service-business owners, your website is going to be the most important marketing investment you make. But don’t worry – it doesn’t have to cost a fortune!

In the past 20 years, I have observed numerous business owners and even prominent Entrepreneurs build their businesses on various Social Media platforms only to have those operations completely destroyed after the platform banned them without warning.

This is why it is soooo important to have your own website built for your service-based business. It should feel like “home” to you as well as your customers. A place they can come and know that your service is going to help them.

Your website will be where you send everyone to find out more about you, your business, and what services you offer.

(SEO) Search Engine Optimization

Now that you have your website built, you need to get customers into your “virtual shop”! This is where SEO comes into play.

Put yourself in your customer’s shoes for just a second. Let’s say a storm just came through the area and you notice that your roof is leaking pretty bad and ruining everything that’s under it. You grab your phone or run to your computer and type in “roof repair near me” or “orlando (insert city here) roofing company” and Google Maps pops up. You look over the 3 businesses, skim the reviews but proceed to the listing underneath the maps (these are called organic rankings). You see the same company that is on the maps within the organic results so you click on their site.

This is what SEO does for your business! It puts your business in front of your potential customer so that they will walk into your store.

It’s the process of optimizing your website so that it appears as the top result in Google and other search engines, plus Google Maps, for keyword searches related to your business and the services you offer.

Now there are many factors that go into how well you will rank on Google, but don’t worry…this is where we thrive… service-based SEO 😉

Facebook and Google Ads

Now that you have your website and it’s ranking high on Google for relevant keywords, it’s time to start driving some traffic there! And what better way to do this than by running Facebook and Google Ads?

Both of these platforms are great ways to reach your exact target market. You can laser-focus your ads to reach the specific service-based businesses you are trying to attract. Plus, these platforms have numerous tools that help you determine exactly how much your ads will cost and what type of results they’ll get so you won’t waste money on something that isn’t working!

Email Marketing

So now we’ve talked about building a website that you can drive traffic to, SEO that helps you rank on Google, and using Facebook/Google Ads to drive traffic back to your site, now let’s chat about the best way to keep them coming back!

Email marketing is an incredible tool that service-based business owners have at their disposal.

Having a list of your customer’s email addresses is going to be your most valuable asset in your business because these are people who are interested in the service you offer.

Your email list is where you can send out offers, tips, updates on your service-based business – anything that will help build a relationship with these people so they’ll stay loyal to you throughout 2022 and beyond! (I definitely just said that in my head with the voice of Buzz Lightyears, did you?) 🙂

Social Media Marketing

Last but certainly not least…let’s talk about social media!

If you’re not using social media to market your service-based business, you are definitely missing out!

Platforms like Facebook, Gab, YouTube, Rumble, TikTok and Instagram provide an incredible opportunity for service-based businesses to connect with their target market on a more personal level.

You can share photos of the work you’ve done, post helpful tips that relate to your industry, and just share an overall message that will help service-based businesses stay connected.

Don’t forget!

Your website is “Home” and is where you’re sending everyone to find out about the services you offer – it’s critical for success in 2022 and beyond! You want people who visit your site knowing they can trust you to give them top-notch service!
